The Phantom Bridge: Night on the Galaxy (Mt Grandjay Part 2)

Voyager's Record 24.0077.0900 - Return to Mt Grandjay

• Contacted by fellow traveler "Tommy Salami" who kindly shared wonderful postcard recordings of their recent trip to Mount Grandjay.

 

• They mentioned that if the jump platform of the base were set out a bit further, a traveler could merely step off the edge and then reach the bottom of the chasm without needing jetpack thrusts for course corrections.
• With that thoughtful feedback, we took the first base terminus back to the Ivplak system - back to Mt Grandjay.
• We quickly set to work extending the jump platform!
• Dubbed the "bridge extension", we quickly found ourselves 710u out from the summit base. 
• We further constructed a "garage" with six (6) power doors overlooking their own jump platforms. Each power door was activated via proximity switch, much like the doors on the top floor of the summit base.

• In our excitement, we hurriedly invited traveler Grandjay to test out the new bridge extension. He enthusiastically obliged us!

• A peculiar thing occurred on the way to the jump garage. As we approached the 500u mark of the bridge extension, the clouds parted and revealed that the rest of the bridge had disappeared.
• However, Grandjay was able to continue on...
• In fact, the rest of the bridge extension and the jump garage were completely accessible to Grandjay!
• We decided the best option was for Grandjay to proceed with the dive, while I boarded the Wynebgwrthucher to follow from the air.
• And so, the "Phantom Bridge" of Mt Grandjay was discovered!

• Added a small base at the bottom, complete with landing pad.
• We also added a landing zone for diving travelers, complete with floor-plate activated lights and byte-beat devices!

• Invited fellow travelers Wulfsinger and Gidrakos for an afternoon of base diving!
• They too were able to see and reach the jump garage 710u from the summit base
• Could it be that the Phantom Bridge affects only me?

• With the Pendragon hanging right over the summit base, we came up with a rather nutty notion.
• Why not dive from the Pendragon...?

Voyager's Record 24.0078.2200 - Hanging out with Friends

• After enjoying an afternoon of diving shenanigans, Gidrakos and Wulfsinger invited us to travel to their systems for a few surprises.
• We took a quick detour to Gidrakos' home planet.
• A beautiful paradise word, Gidrakos' base was set on one of the larger islands complete with floating bubbles.
• Inside the coastline base, Gidrakos showed us the artifacts he had come across on his travels.
• We enjoyed the sunset before setting out to another one of Gidrakos' bases.

• As we slipped through the atmosphere of a desolate world, a towering needle jutted from its craggy surface.
• The temperature quickly shifted from a frigid -92 degrees celsius to a blistering 137 degrees as a freak heat storm blasted the peak, we quickly sought shelter inside the summit base.

• Ever the thoughtful interface, Gidrakos had constructed the central room of the base over the tip of the mountain summit!
• The cheeky android struck a seated pose right on the top :P

• Spent the rest of the afternoon diving from the base summit!

• The weather at the base of the mountain shifted just as rapidly as it did at the summit.
• Took a few moments to take visual recordings from the mountain base.
• Beautiful but deadly...

• Next up, traveler Wulfsinger invited us to rendezvous at their planet for the final surprise of the evening.
• We emerged from space station of Wulfsinger's home system, which was caught within the whirling rings of the local giant planet.
• The view was captivating, but Wulfsinger told us that we hadn't seen anything yet...

• As we glided through the pink clouds of Wulfsinger's paradise world, he guided us to his home base.
• Disembarking from our ships, Wulfsinger invited us to his masterpiece - he had created his very own space bar & night club! 

• Sitting comfortably in the air above his base, Wulfsinger's space bar & night club came complete with:
• A fully lit dance floor
• Disco-like flashing ceiling lights
• Custom byte-beat music playlist
• Center DJ tables
• Dancing drones
• Corner room bar and lounges

***Note: I regret to inform you that as of the Frontiers update to the game, Wulfsinger had to dismantle the space bar and night club. He has recently informed me that he is currently working on version 2.0!
