September 2021 - Updates & Thoughts

September 19, 2021 - 1000 Views!

When I started this blog almost a month ago I initially intended to just share it with close friends in family.

Thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to check out my silly adventures in this game!

Although getting through all 255 galaxies seems incredibly far away, I'm excited to continue sharing screenshots and game clips of my time in the universe of No Man's Sky!

Thanks for checking out my blog and looking forward to more fun times! And please check out my new post on my explosive encounter with a sentinel force on the tropical planet of Emura - cheers!

September 13, 2021 - New Galaxy Tracker

  • Should be easier to read the Galaxy Tracker now!
  • Added videos of GX006 & GX007 hyperdrive series - posts to be updated soon!
    • Please keep in mind that the hyperdrive series videos are the full record of the travel to each galaxy's core; they're lengthy videos meant for documentation.
    • If you intend to view them, they're more like ambient noise (asmr-like?)

September 12, 2021 - Nostalgia Filled Storage

I guess this counts as a side story :P check it out here.

September 2, 2021 - Bugs

*Credit to James Hamnett from the No Man's Sky Over 30s Club for this incredibly apt image!*

So here's some of the issues I experienced with yesterday's update:

  • Cuboid/room BUGGED
  • Power components and doors BUGGED
  • Frigate mission BUGGED
  • 7 Crashes to Xbox Home
I was "sad" for a bit that I couldn't play much, if at all yesterday. I didn't take any screenshots outside of the very little bit of settlement play that I managed to get in.
I saw a lot of folks on social media echo the same, if not more issues than me.

It's all good :D

At first I thought, "I've been here before" with so many other games. I thought we'd have to wait several days, a week, if not a season until these things got fixed. Fellow players got really mad and a deluge of complaints ripped through *insert platform here*. Content creators did some damage control and moderators put up the "let's be mature" comments to address the issue. On my end, wouldn't it have been "tragically-hilarious" if I couldn't continue this blog that I just started?

After my seventh crash, I put the controller down, loaded up some music and, much like many other folks, did something else. Nowadays, I typically like to give something 24-48 hours before I react to it. It used to be the case that when a major content drop "failed" or something I enjoyed about the game was heavily nerfed, I'd gaslight myself and go on an internal tirade about all the things that the developer did wrong.

"They should have done X..."
"How could they mess up Y..."
"Z is unacceptable..."

It's fine to be a bit upset, and in some cases the "should's" and "ought's" are valid, but I found that I wasted an insane amount of time getting myself riled up the way I did. It's out of my hands.

I think Hello Games and the NMS Community at large did an amazing job of handling the bugs and crashes that came with Frontiers :D
  • Hello Games released a patch that addressed a lot of the issues 12 hours ago (as of this writing)
From reporting bugs, to posting funny videos of bugs, it's incredibly encouraging to see how "grow-ed up" the No Man's Sky community is! I used to see a lot of vitriol in a good number of gaming communities I was involved in before.

Apparently, it's hardly a "thing" here in No Man's Sky.

Since I downloaded the patch, I played for about an hour and here's what I found:
  • Frigate missions FIXED
  • Cuboid rooms FIXED
  • Power components FIXED - except power doors :P
  • 1 Crash to Xbox Home
Thanks Hello Games! That was INCREDIBLY QUICK - keep up the good work!

September 1, 2021

Hello!

Thanks very much for visiting my blog! I hope that, in some little way, I was able to share with you the enjoyment that I experience in No Man's Sky. If you're a veteran player or if you're new to the game, I hope that I can provide you with some value through the pictures, anecdotes, and videos that I have posted here.

Hello Games has just released the Frontiers update today and the buzz among the community has been nothing short of ecstatic! I'm looking forward to posting my adventures about what Frontiers offers, but my goal in the game remains the same.

First and foremost, I'm looking to get through all 255 galaxies! I haven't even finished the Atlas quest line yet haha, but I'll get to it in due time. Spotlighting the journeys and adventures of fellow travelers is also a major part of the things I wish to share here!

I'm very, very new to using social media and to blogging. As a result, I'm still muddling through all the settings and features that each platform has to offer. E.g.

  • I'm looking to add a new post every other day to start off. I want to be consistent AND I don't want to fall behind in documenting about all the screenshots I've been taking in the game :P
  • Visitors can now comment without having a Google Account - sorry, my bad that I didn't change it sooner!
  • I'm figuring out how to embed my supplementary Youtube/Twitch videos within my posts, rather than just providing hyperlinks.
  • I'm looking to include Adsense, but I still have to figure out how to make it as unobtrusive as possible - the focus ABSOLUTELY has to be on the journey!
If you'd like to comment or leave feedback on any of the things I've posted, please do. Let's have a conversation about our journeys through the game! If you have any questions, please ask. If I don't have the answer, I'll do my best to refer you to the best source that I know of. If you are just passing by, thank you also!

I hope the Frontiers update brings you many hours of fun!

Many thanks and happy travels,

- Makulet 🦔🚀
