That... One... Last... Creature...

Voyager's Record 27.0094.2235 - To Scan All the Things

GX007-Budullangr
Nosumxuk System
Enroute to Planet Rugyronzo

  • One more planet remained to be discovered and thankfully we didn't need to restock mountains worth of ion batteries.
    • Sensor readouts indicated that the dusty planet of Rugyronzo did have high levels of sentinel activity - best be on our best behavior!

  • The minute-long pulse flight over to Rugyronzo took us over Emura 79/P2.
  • En route to Rugyronzo, we took some time to reflect on our trip so far.
    • We've been able to enjoy our exploration of the opening systems we've arrived at after a each galactic core jump.
    • However, our progress through each of the galaxies feels like we've ground to a halt.
    • Should we still explore each opening system? Should we quickly advance through each galaxy? We'll see...

  • Approaching the planet, we inverted Caliburn to ease the descent through the atmosphere.
  • Blue skies quickly yielded to a dusty mocha storm as we bumped and bumbled through the atmosphere.
  • The storm relented as we landed in the shadow of a comms tower.
    • Stepping onto the dirt caked surface, the blue sky returned and we hurriedly set about to catalog the species of Rugyronzo.

  • Cataloging the local fauna went surprisingly well, our first scan was of a tiny four legged "Scarkakae".
    • Its imposing data entry was entirely misleading, the skittish creature barely stood as tall as our knees!
    • Bioscans indicated that the highly anxious Scarkakae had weak lungs, probably worsened by the planet's occasional sandstorms.
    • We left the poor thing alone shortly thereafter.

  • Off in the distance we spotted bulky lumbering beasts shaped like Old-Earth Triceratops!
    • Minding the ever vigilant sentinels, we lightly tip-toed around and passed the cacti clutching creature pellets at the ready.
    • These chunky Portbuvium sported palm-leaf shaped horns on their eye ridges and forward facing crests on their boulder-sized shoulders.
    • Peaceful as they were, the ground under their hooves trembled; we could barely keep our teeth from chattering as we lay the food pellets down.
    • Content with the offering, the mighty Portbuvium deigned to let us mount up on its stocky neck and we thundered along the dusty hillside.

  • We had completed bioscans of nine out of the ten species of the planet by the time afternoon rolled by.
  • A dust storm was approaching fast  as we scanned for the local trade outpost.
    • Unfortunately, we tripped over a rock, which one of the sentinels took great offense at.
    • Eager to avoid a mechanical confrontation whilst in search of the last creature, we jumped aboard Caliburn and blasted off into the rolling grit of the storm.

Rugyronzo - Local Day 1

  • Using the nearby trading post as our local base of operations, we set about on our search of the final creature.
    • We didn't find it, but we did spot two barrel nosed fighters that were available for purchase - one sporting wicked starjumper wings and the other a halo-type propulsion system.

Rugyronzo - Local Day 8

  • Still no sighting of the last creature, but we're bound to find it any day...
    • We did find an exquisite racing-yellow "E-wing" jet fighter!

Rugyronzo - Local Day 15

  • How have we not found this creature yet???
    • Decided to fly by the crashed freighter beside the trading post - it appeared to have been completely stripped for parts.

Rugyronzo - Local Night 22

  • FINALLY!!! Twenty-two days and twenty-two nights and FINALLY!
    • This two-legged "reindeer" was ours!
  • Online discovery services bequeathed us with the well-earned "Classifier" title!
  • Looking back on our catalog of bioscans (especially our favorite Portbuvium!) we finally claimed the reward of nanites.
  • Riding the creature back to the trading post was the most jubilant thing we had done all expedition!

  • Saying goodbye to the diminutive deer and with our catalog of fauna complete took off from the trading post.
  • Nosumxuk's star was sinking into the dust storm, as we climbed through the mocha clouds.

Voyager's Record 28.0095.0119 - Makulet VII

  • The colossal clouds of the moon, Accrintop Sigma, stuck in our minds best when thinking of the  Nosumxuk System.
    • Weaving though the interplanetary debris in transit to the irradiated moon, we decided to set our opening system base on the original mesa we landed on.
  • Construction on Makulet VII didn't take long:
    • Base coordinates lie at -20.31 South, -90.57 West
    • We best enjoyed the views from there!

  • Finally witnessed a lightning mustard storm, we quickly retreated to our base to safely observe the odd weather system.

  • Following the storm, we stepped out to complete our final base checks.
    • A giant Immortal Worm wanted to help too!

Voyager's Record 28.0096.1500 - Freighter Rescue

  • We opted to take on a quick survey mission today, the station's mission agent promised us extra hyperdrive fuel after completion.
    • Located in the Zuendi-Nojos System adjacent to the Nosumxuk System, we set out in the Wynebgwrthucher.
  • Upon arriving in-system, alarms blared as we witnessed a band of pirate ships staging an attack on a capital venator freighter and its fleet.
    • We confirmed the frantic hails and charged weapons!
  • After dispatching the pirates, we received a relieved hail from Commander Keshadz of the Minosukaya.
    • The eager commander offered to give up command of his fleet to us - we politely declined and returned to our survey mission.

  • Survey mission completed and hyperdrive fuel attained, we returned to the Nosumxuk System aboard the Caliburn and plotted our hyperdrive series to the core of Budullangr.
