In Orbit over Rogaden XVII

  • Our search for the the mighty Atlas having proved fruitless thus far, we returned to the Pendragon.
    • Commander Allvarsho recommended that it may be a good idea to scan the Traveler Database for potential leads on the Atlas.
    • The stout commander also hinted that it would be beneficial if we were to seek out popular Traveler vacation spots to give the Pendragon's hyperdrive a break - as it were.

  • Taking the hint, we perused the database and to our pleasant surprise happened across Interstellar Hotel Owner/Operator Kim @ThinkingViolet.

  • Echoing the toasty memories of our glacial home far and away in the Calypso Galaxy, Kim's Winterworld Chateau was far and away more charmingly built.
  • With coordinates locked in the computer and hearts set on a cozy getaway, we took an express portal back to the Euclid Galaxy - to Kim's Winterworld Chateau.

  • Our exosuit systems confirmed that we were indeed on the right planet.
    • Discovered by the intrepid DoubleDashGaming in the recent traveler research expedition, the planet of Hocomber Tatey bid us an icy welcome.
  • We excitedly boarded Caliburn and rocketed into orbit in search of the famed chateau!

  • A quick glance at the Galaxy Map revealed that the Gek System of Iotaru was quite far from the galactic core.
    • Situated at the 0200 arm of Euclid in the purple stellar haze of the Popelli Sector, Iotaru featured a hot class-G star and an average economy & conflict status; quite toasty and homey!

  • We were surprised to see how busy Hocomber Tatey was.
    • According to planetary scans, more than twenty-seven bases populated the frozen world.
    • It warmed the heart to think that there were this many travelers out here who enjoyed cold planets like we did; for a moment, mid-pulse, we were NOT alone. 😄
  • Darting above and below orbit, we sped by numerous bases on our way to the coordinates of the chateau.
    • Our hyperdrive beleaguered eyes seemingly stretched out through the frame of the ship as we envisioned ourselves enjoying the warm fireplace of the comfy-looking abode.

  • In cold silence we stared at the upper right of our HUD...
    • -57.21 South, -25.11 West stared back at us blankly...
  • Onto the crunchy snow we fell upon our knees and muffled an exhausted whimper through our frozen visor.
    • After endless hours of hyperdrive, we knelt broken and frostbitten on the snow-caked mountainside.
    • Within our iteration of space the Winterworld Chateau was but a dream.
    • Its warmth and comfort now existed only in our fractured imagination.

  • Having established terminus use at the Iotaru Station, we further lamented our misfortune. :P

  • Sunk within Caliburn's tear-soaked seat we thumbed through the database with renewed vigor to find another site of respite.
  • Kim's amazing creations were quickly morphing from places of rest and relaxation to mythical destinations such as the Old-Earth Holy Grail or Avalon
  • With the coordinates of Kim's Sunny Coastal Hotel firmly locked in the computer and the hotel's infinity pools and cushy rooms beckoning our dreary exosuit, we blasted off to the nearest Portal System!

  • Mid-transit we caught sight of Traveler BoidGaming's comprehensive testimonial of Kim's Sunny Coastal Hotel resort.
  • Our determination further enforced by BoidGaming's sunny coverage, we hurried through the portal and pictured ourselves "soaking in the sun" at the famed hotel!

  • Having emerged on the other side, our exosuit chimed that we were on the humid planet of New Giangri in the Hatherm-Eha System.
    •  We were in the right place, but a warning notification blinked on our HUD alerting us of "hateful" sentinels.
      • It didn't matter how many sentinels faced us, we were going to enjoy ourselves here!
  • Frantically boarding Caliburn, we took off into the twilight skies of New Giangri.
  • As we cruised towards the coordinates, New Giangri's sunrise put our frayed nerves at ease as if to welcome us warmly.
    • We cut thrusters and glided amidst the pink wafting clouds.
  • We were still quite a distance away from the hotel, so we shot up into orbit and dove back down through the atmosphere.
    • Happy and thankful for the warm welcome, we were still anxious to arrive at the even more accommodating resort.
  • As we passed a humid storm and a downed freighter, our eyes flitted up and down from the navigation panel.
    • We were almost there!

  • -7.34 South, -90.39 West laughed at us as we stared exasperatedly at our HUD.
    • Two malicious sentinels cackled at us from behind a grove of breezy palm trees.
    • They descended like incessant ravens, mechanically cawing at us for our epic lucid failure.
  • Sentinel blaster fire splashed upon our shields like the refreshing waves that lapped upon the shore... where the infinity pools were supposed to be!!! 😠

  • In our delirious, resort starved state we switched our multitool to "Geology Cannon" mode...

  • Aside from their mechanical laughter, we scarcely noticed the sentinel quads and their walker master.

  • Amongst taunting lasers, we dejectedly walked back to the ship.
  • With our multitool seemingly out of geology cannon rounds, we charged the Caliburn's upgraded suite of Positron Ejector Cannons as we took off from the beautiful surface of New Giangri.
    • The sentinel walker cranked and sputtered beneath the gorgeously crisp waves.

  • Wrapping back around towards the paradise island chain, we longingly gazed at the site of where Kim's Sunny Coastal Hotel must have stood in another iteration.
    • We imagined that we were sipping on cool refreshing drinks and enjoying a blaze of Gek Nip as we stretched out on the lavish seats by the sun drenched shore.
    • As night drew closer, we imagined that we would be enjoying an elegant banquet with Kim, BoidGaming and many other travelers at the exquisite dining table - reminiscing on our many travels.
  • We guided Caliburn into a gentle ascent as we climbed into the sun-kissed clouds of New Giangri and wearily watched the star of Hatherm-Eha bid us a tender evening & farewell.
  • Emerging on the other side of our base terminus, we knelt in stark exhaustion.
  • We felt our worn out eyes stretch out through our helmet as scenes of the Winterworld Chateau and the Sunny Coastal Hotel gleamed at the horizon of our vision.
  • Respite may have eluded us for now, but we WILL find those wonderfully crafted resorts by Kim.
    • In our dreary state, we hoped that other travelers had better fortune than us.
    • One day, for sure, we'd find ourselves again on those blissful shores.
  • Our exosuit beeped a notification at us - it was Kim!
  • Scraping ourselves off the base floor, we wiped our tear-streaked visor and thankfully smiled a hopeful smile 😄
